Climate Focus is an advisory company committed to the development of projects and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate carbon credits. We help project developers, investors, buyers of carbon credits and policy makers succeed in the challenging and continuously evolving carbon market.
Our Vision
Climate change is one of the most serious challenges for humankind. We consider carbon trading as a promising tool to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale, which is key to combating climate change.
Our Mission
We promote the opportunities provided by carbon trading and support equal access to the global carbon markets by all participants. Climate Focus works on achieving these objectives through
- bringing together participants in the carbon markets and matching their needs;
- developing projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
- designing policies aimed at making the carbon market more effective.
Founded in 2004 by Adriaan Korthuis and Charlotte Streck, Climate Focus has offices in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Washington, DC, USA and Lisbon, Portugal. Our core team is comprised of specialists who have been working in the carbon market since its inception. Hailing from five continents and eight countries, our staff speak a variety of languages and have worked and traveled extensively in the countries where our projects are developed.
Climate Focus shares the belief that market mechanisms are a critical tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and along with other members of INCIS (The International Carbon Investors & Services group), is jointly promoting the design and development of robust and well-functioning global emissions trading schemes.
