Agriculture and Climate Change: A Scoping Report

Bruce Campbell, Wendy Mann, Ricardo Meléndez‐Ortiz, Charlotte Streck, Timm Tennigkeit

The report is the result of a project facilitated by the Meridian Institute which began in August 2010.  It is intended to provide context and analysis for addressing agriculture in international climate negotiations, discussing issues such as agricultural production and food security; early action opportunities; trade; finance; technology transfer and capacity building; and performance and benefits measurement.

The aim of the report is to help inform climate negotiators and other stakeholders identify options and unpack issues of interest; and not to express opinions or be prescriptive.  It was guided by an iterative process comprised of forty individual interviews from August-December 2010, and two in-person group consultations convened 15-17 February 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and 11-13 April 2011, in Bangkok, Thailand.  Charlotte Streck has served as coordinating author of the report.
