climate focus participated in a feasability study for the hong kong stock exchange
In 2007 the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx) commissioned a study evaluating its engagement in emissions and other environmental markets. Climate Focus, together with Mallesons Stephen Jaques and the International Environmental Trading Group, conducted a options and feasibility study for HKEx which found wide interest in the press. Swiss Climate Cent Foundation signs two CDM deals (Published 28 May 2008 in Point Carbon)
Climate Focus successfully concluded negotiations on behalf of the Climate Cent Foundation, which has recently announced that it has contracted to buy an additional 240.000 carbon credits from CDM projects, bringing the total amount of CERs to 7.2 million. The foundation has a target to buy 8 million credits from CDM projects as part of its strategy to ensure greenhouse gas emissions cuts of 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent over the Kyoto period. The two new projects have been sourced by the consortium of Climate Focus and South Pole. The foundation will source 97,000 credits over the 2008-2012 period from one project and 140,000 from another. The projects are located in Peru and China.

hong kong stock exchange press release
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange published a press release on 21 January 2008 stating that, based on Climate Focus’ team report, they will seek to develop its existing business focusing on environmental and greenhouse gas markets and will work to facilitate the listing of emission related products on its securities market.

A Tropical discussion
Carbon Finance issue of 20 November 2007 contained an article titled A Tropical Discussion that addresses the topic of Reducing emissions from deforestation (RED) and its leverage in Bali. Climate Focus claims that RED will likely form part of a post-2012 regime, and action will begin well before 2012. Nevertheless the role of the carbon market in addressing RED is still uncertain.
