Release of the Gold Standard for Global Goals

Release of the Gold Standard for Global Goals

In July 2017, the Gold Standard released their new standard ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’ (“GS4GG”). All registered Gold Standard projects are required to update to GS4GG, with the date of upgrading depending on the project context. To upgrade, an annex demonstrating how a project meets the GS4GG’s new requirements must be prepared. The updated Standard is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, and introduces new safeguarding principles for some project types amongst other things.

Climate Focus has carried out an extensive review of how GS4GG differs from the previous version of the Gold Standard, with a particular focus on what GS4GG’s new elements will mean in practice for project managers and developers. Our assessment enables us to assist clients in upgrading existing Gold Standard projects to GS4GG, as well as register projects under the new standard. If you have any questions on how the new standard affects your project, we are happy to help.
