On September 22, 2008, Avoided Deforestation Partners convened a luncheon and roundtable discussion in New York. Special international guests, such as Dr. Wangari Matthaai and Al Gore, were joined by NGO  chairpersons and presidents, private sector investors, and project developers to discuss the importance of REDD policy and strategies for strengthening international forest protecttion provisions in US  climate change legislation.
