Avoided Deforestation Partners is a unique think tank founded by leaders in carbon policy, forestry, finance and conservation. It recognizes that RED policy must draw on private sector capital to be effective, and that the best way to engage the private sector is through market mechanisms. Avoided Deforestation Partners was formed to explore key issues that need to be addressed to create sound, market based policy solutions to reduce deforestation. The group represents an independent, collaborative effort that welcomes participation and input from all.
Climate Wedge Ltd is an independent carbon management and investment advisory firm providing carbon finance and emissions trading related advisory and asset management services to corporate clients and institutional investors. Climate Wedge focuses on designing and executing carbon-finance investment strategies and vehicles, and helping structure transactions and financing for emissions credits, greenhouse gas reduction projects, and low-carbon technology companies and solutions.
Easy Carbon Consultancy Co. Ltd. (Easy Carbon) is an independent consultancy in Beijing, China. One of the first local consulting companies specialised in the Clean Development Mechamism (CDM) in China, Easy Carbon assists clients in optimising opportunities and overcoming risks associated with securing and developing CDM projects in China. Easy Carbon provides services to local industries related to each part of the CDM process. They also mobilise other financing opportunities for projects in the renewable energy sector.
Forest Trends is an international non-profit organization that works to expand the value of forests to society; to promote sustainable forest management and conservation by creating and capturing market values for ecosystem services; to support innovative projects and companies that are developing these new markets; and to enhance the livelihoods of local communities living in and around those forests. We analyze strategic market and policy issues, catalyze connections between forward-looking producers, communities and investors, and develop new financial tools to help markets work for conservation and people.
Gaia Carbon Finance is the first domestic carbon finance trading and consulting company based in Istanbul, Turkey. Gaia is the bridge between the project developers and the VER buyers, providing carbon finance opportunities to all parties in the challenging environment of multifarious and rapidly evolving carbon market. With more than fifty projects in the pipeline, Gaia has developed prominent in-house capacity for carbon asset developing by implementing various methodologies and standards such as Gold Standard and VCS. Gaia also provides carbon foot-printing, emission management services, trainings and capacity building assistance.
The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) was founded to foster debate and innovative approaches to global challenges; to form a strategic community that includes representatives from the public sector, civil society as well as business; and to break down the walls between traditional foreign policy (great power politics and international security) and issues such as development, the environment, and health. Charlotte Streck serves as Board Member and has collaborated with GPPi on a number of projects and serves as advisor on issues relating to environmental and energy issues.
GreenCollar Climate Solutions (GCS) is an environmental marketsandproject development consultancy that helps business develop the necessary climate change management frameworks to protect and enhance shareholder value, addressing the foreseeable impacts of climate change on business and helping manage the transition to a fully carbon conscious business over the long-term.
GCS is led by astrong executive and consulting team comprised of environment, forest, energy, climate change, carbon finance and strategic risk experts.
Catherine Lee is a US-based lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in energy and environmental projects. She is the Managing Director of Lee International, which provides advisory services to projects created under the Kyoto Protocol and other emissions trading schemes around the world, with a particular focus on CDM projects. For the past two years she has been primary advisor to a South African waste management company in the development, structuring, and contracting of a landfill gas recovery project in South Africa.
Silvestrum is a small firm of senior partners assisting in the creation of carbon assets in land-use projects for compliance and voluntary markets worldwide, and provides advisory services in the land use and climate sectors, as well as sustainable forest management.
SODES GROUP is an integral service company (engineering, manufacture, erection, construction, and maintenance) for the energy, chemical, petrochemical, industrial, and environmental sectors operating in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and China. Tú Transformas , a Group Sodes subsidiary, is a global warming consultancy whose primary business is the reduction of green house gas discharges, development and generation of clean energy, and CO2 management. Tú Transformas services include the promotion, design, and execution of turnkey projects in renewable energies and waste to energy, as well as consulting and management of emission reduction projects under the CDM and other carbon standards.
South Pole Carbon Asset Management Ltd. sources and developes premium greenhouse gas emission reductions projects. South Pole Ltd. is the successor company of 500 PPM GmbH’s carbon origination business and has offices in Zürich and Bangkok. The company has a special focus on Gold Standard CDM projects.
TerraCarbon LLC is a consulting and advisory firm that specialises in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the carbon market. TerraCarbon works with project developers and buyers to develop and transact AFOLU credits within both Kyoto and non-Kyoto markets. TerraCarbon’s project expertise includes: afforestation/reforestation, reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation, forest management, cropland and grassland management, peatland management, non-renewable biomass, and bioenergy.
UNIQUE forestry consultants develops solutions for successful land use management, with headquarters in Freiburg (Black Forest, Germany), and branch offices in Boppard (Central Rhine, Germany), Kampala (Uganda), and Asunción (Paraguay). The firm has a strong presence in East Africa as a landuse carbon finance service provider. Among others UNIQUE supported the project selection, design and validation of the Uganda Nile Basin Reforestation project – the first registered CDM forestry project in Africa. The firm is the management consultant of the BioCarbon Fund project portfolios in Uganda and for The Greenbelt Movement projects in Kenya. UNIQUEs team is also leading a consortium supporting the joint initiative of the World Bankand the Government of Kenya developing two agricultural soil carbon finance projects together with a NGO and an agribusiness as local implementation partners. In the framework of this project a carbon accounting methodology was developed which is currently validated by the Voluntary Carbon Standard. In Africa UNIQUE is also engaged in private and public land use carbon finance projects in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Zambia.
Vertis Environmental Finance is an investment and financial advisory firm specialising in emissions trading and environmental markets. Headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, Vertis has regional offices in the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine.Vertis combines Kyoto Protocol, financial structuring, government relations and technology expertise, with carbon market and local understanding, to secure and maximise the carbon value for its clients and projects. Vertis has concentrated on emissions trading in Central and Eastern Europe since 2001 and was one of the first companies to execute Joint Implementation transactions, broker deals in the European Union Emission Trading Scheme, and sell VERs in this region. In addition to its project-based activities, Vertis runs the euets.com spot CO2 exchange, a member of the Climex Alliance.
