Projects : Planet Banking Initiative

Climate Focus and its partners Climate Wedge, Triodos Facet, and INCAE, are providing technical support to financial institutions in Latin America under IDB's beyondBanking programme, and its planetBanking initiative. The objective of this support is to raise awareness and capacity building for environmental issues in financial institutions, development of new products and services tailored to promote "green investments", and measuring their impact on emission reductions and hence, on climate change mitigation.

Currently Climate Focus and its partners are providing support to Banco General in Panama, and Banco Galicia in Argentina. Our aim is to  assist these banks in identifying the most promising sectors and clients to promote green investments and designing tools that enable  bank officers to understand and assess environmental eligibility criteria promoted with such investments. We are also supporting these banks in defining a series of parameters to measure the environmental benefits of the investment and assess the rate of success of "green credit lines."
