Climate Focus helped to organize a training workshop in Merida Mexico for local government officials to increase local capacities for REDD+ implementation and enhance cooperation on REDD+ in the Yucatan Peninsula. This initiative, sponsored by the IDB, UNEP and the Mexican forest administration (CONAFOR) was very well received by all participants, which included also representatives from local NGOs and universities.

Robert O'Sullivan contributed to a new publication titled "Peatlands - guidance for climate change mitigation by conservation, rehabilitation and sustainable use." The publication is a useful handbookfor policy makers, technical audiences and others interested in peatland management and is published jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Wetlands International. Jointly with other thought leaders in the debate on international environmental policy, Charlotte Streck contributed a commentary to the 20th Anniversary issue of the Journal of Environment and Development on the state and prospects of international climate negotiations.
