The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development this week published a report on carbon market options for Kazakhstan prepared by Climate Focus. The report looks into the status of Kazakhstan under the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol and examines options for carbon market activities, in particular Joint Implementation (JI). It concludes with developing strategies for Kazakhstan to act and negotiate at the international level and with formulating a roadmap for Kazakhstan to implement Joint Implementation and voluntary market instruments as soon as possible, possibly prior to 2013.
