PID Amazonia and Sinfonía Trópico collaborate to protect the Amazon Forest

The PID Amazonia team, working jointly with Sinfonía Trópico, has carried out a series of artistic and scientific processes in Mitú (Vaupés), in the Colombian Amazon, in collaboration with young leaders from local indigenous populations to raise awareness about the perils of deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change, and the importance of protecting indigenous cultural heritage for effective forest conservation.

Sinfonía Trópico is an arts and science platform focused on the conservation and protection of biodiversity. We facilitate encounters in different regions of Colombia between national and international artists, scientists, and local young leaders, with the aim of exchanging of knowledge, and strengthen a collective identity associated with biodiversity, celebrating the environment, and alerting about the perils of its destruction.

The Platform for Information and Dialogue in the Colombian Amazon (PID) was developed and launched by Climate Focus, together with Red Caquetá Paz, CINDAP, Fundacion Natura,  and Akorde in order to improve communication and exchange of information between stakeholders with interests in the region. This initiative promotes forest conservation and activities to avoid deforestation, and is closely aligned with various policies and initiatives from the Colombian state that seek to reduce deforestation in Colombia's Amazon region.
