Complying with zero-deforestation agreements in Colombia: Barriers and opportunities

Companies in Colombia that have signed the government’s zero-deforestation agreements, within the TFA framework, encounter a series of barriers that are identified and assessed in this report, particularly in four value chains: beef, milk, palm oil, and cocoa. Climate Focus and Solidaridad are supporting four leading companies in each of these value chains to assess barriers and create opportunities to overcome them and comply with their zero-deforestation commitments.

The government of Colombia recognizes large commercial agriculture as one of the principal drivers of deforestation. Together with a coalition of private sector actors and representatives from civil society, stakeholders are working together in the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 (TFA) framework to halt tropical deforestation in the country.
