Szymon Mikolajczyk is a senior consultant at Climate Focus. He has a financial academic background and specializes in performing risk assessments of emission reduction projects, conducting carbon asset valuations and advising on structuring climate funding. He is active in the East African and Asian renewable energy sector, involved in both large-scale investments and bottom of the pyramid initiatives.
Szymon’s recent work includes supporting the Ethiopian Railways Corporation in devising a climate finance strategy for its national railways program, advising the World Food Program on structuring the organization’s school feeding initiatives as carbon projects in Kenya and Zambia, and evaluating the eligibility of a large portfolio of clean energy projects for the Chinese domestic offset scheme. Szymon is driven by linking green growth and social entrepreneurship in developing countries with innovative ways of results-based finance. In his spare time, Szymon enjoys sports (football, skiing, scuba diving) and traveling.
Szymon holds degrees from the University of Sussex (BSc in ecology and conservation) and the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (MSc in finance and investments) and has passed Level I of the CFA program.
